"Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as the head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all, and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all "
1 Chronicles 29:11,12

At this very moment, God is in control.  Charley has battled and suffered from cancer for over a year now. Yet through this trial we are comforted with the assurance that our Lord has a good and wise purpose through his affliction. Someone has said "Great soldiers are not made in the barracks nor on the parade ground, but on the battlefield where the going is tough". Charley has faithfully served His Lord for many years. His life and his desires changed when he asked Christ to be His Savior, and he wanted to please the Lord with his life. Like the apostle Paul, Charley can say "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain"(Phil. 1:21).

Charley Hendren - Cowboy Preacher and Poet - Cowboyography

Besides writing and performing cowboy poetry and songs, he began to preach the Gospel and his heart was toward reaching people for Christ.

Please continue to pray for Charley and Fronie, the Hendren family, and the many people he was close to. I'm sure they would both appreciate a card or a note of encouragement.

Charley Hendren - Preacher, Poet, Singer.

Here is a poem that will encourage our hearts entitled "He Maketh No Mistake"

My Father's way may twist and turn,

My heart may throb and ache,

But in my soul I'm glad I know,

He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,

My hopes may fade away,

But still I'll trust the Lord to lead,

For he doth know the way.

Tho night be dark and it may seem,

That day will never break,

I'll pin my faith, my all in Him,

He maketh no mistake.

There's so much now I cannot see,

My eyesight far too dim,

But come what may, I'll simply trust

And leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift,

And plain it all He'll make,

Through all the way, tho dark to me,

He made not one mistake.

Charley Hendren, using poetry & cowboy music of the great American West, shares the Gospel - the cowboy way!

Charley ministered at churches, conferences, and Christian ranch settings from  coast to coast. His cowboy-style preaching messages, such as "God Is A Good Cowboy", "Round Pen Redemption", and "The Trail Home", include songs and poems of the West that magnify the patience, mercy, and invitation of the Lord.

A performing member of the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists, Charley shares his music in the campfire style of voice and guitar, combining old-time gospel trail tunes with yodeling and more contemporary offerings to honor America's cowboy heritage and the One who owns the cattle on a thousand hills.

As a nationally recognized western entertainer, Charley shared his horseback heritage at conventions, schools, cowboy festivals, rodeo's, and private engagements across the country, but his first love was sharing the message of eternal salvation that the Lord freely offers through His son Jesus
